Hiring a virtual assistant or sub-contractor for the first time can be a confusing task for most business owners. Many entrepreneurs would like to free up their time so that they can concentrate on growing their business but are not always sure how to go about it.
Virtual assistants and sub-contractors are a great place to start, but what can they do for you?
Brainstorming what to delegate can be a task in itself, so try to set aside 15-30 to get started on this chart and add to it for a day or two as ideas come to you. I like the idea of creating 4 lists (or use my printable free PDF “Determine What to Delegate Chart“) to organize and prioritize your tasks.
On your first list write down all the tasks you are responsible for in your business that do not directly generate income. This may include things like bookkeeping, billing clients, checking email, social media etc. Put a star next to any tasks that you dislike doing or are not highly skilled at (repeat this step for every list.) These will be a good place to find tasks to delegate.
On your second list brainstorm tasks that you do not currently do but may benefit your business. An example of this may be a new service or product offering you want to look into or a new marketing channel such as email marketing that could expand your client/ customer base.
On your third list write down all of your revenue generating activities that you do not enjoy. This is the #1 place to find tasks that you should consider delegating. If you are charging $50 an hour and you can outsource a task to a virtual assistant for $30 an hour without sacrificing quality, it would make sense financially to do this.
On your fourth list write down all of the tasks that you preform that are revenue generating and that you highly enjoy. These tasks should not be outsourced until your other 3 lists have been outsourced first.
Once you have your list of tasks you’d like to delegate, it is time to go out and find a virtual assistant or sub contractor with great recommendations, who you
feel comfortable like working with. View this post for help on finding and choosing a virtual assistant or view my website http://inspireplanning.ca/ to see if the services I offer are a fit for you.
