Well my answer to that used to be coffee, quick cup, then good to go for a few more hours until the next low comes. That was all great and fine until I quit coffee a few years ago (yes- I totally still relapse every now and then.) So I had to get creative, how do I keep myself energized without caffeine?
My solution: Get active! Schedule in a 15-30 minute period to put on your favorite dance-y songs, and dance around a bit. You will be surprised at how much more energized and productive you feel. Alternatively try one of these quick energy inducing fixes:
- Yoga for a few minutes
- A few jumping jacks to make you feel spry
- Full on workout, if you have the time
- If you’re working at home, some music and fast paced cleaning
- Go for a fast paced walk
Boost up your motivation further by taking time to think about your goals and get really excited that you are moving closer to them every day (hopefully.) Of course what you’re putting into your body makes a huge impact on how you feel, but that is def. another post altogether.
How do I validate stopping work mid day to play? Simple, if I’m feeling blah I’ll get oh about 1/2 of the work done as I do when I’m feeling super productive. Taking a 30 minute time out just doubled the amount of work I can get done for the rest of the afternoon. Win-Win.
