Here is a simple strategy that you can apply to most blogs or websites to help make them into awesome money making machines. When creating a new site or looking to improve your current site look to this guide to find a few places to improve.
O is for Opt-in. Having a great opt-in is a necessity for any business blog or website. Email marketing is one of the absolute most effective ways to get your message to your customers and get sales. What is an opt-in exactly? Basically it is just a way that visitors can sign up or opt-in to your email list. Bonus points if you offer some great freebies to those who sign up. Notice that I offer a ‘Free Monthly Social Media Management Workbook‘ as well as a ‘How to Delegate to a Virtual Assistant‘ report? I offer those not only because I am super nice, but also because I want you to read my emails.
A is for About. Your about section or page may be something that you threw together when you first set your site up, but guess what? It is one of the first places that prospective customers look to get more information on you. On my own website my about page is the 2nd most viewed page after the home page. Check out your stats to see if your about page is getting a ton of views, you may be surprised.
S is for SEO. Search engine optimization is huge for blogs and websites. There is a ton of things you can do to help optimize your SEO, but I will leave you with this 3 Quick Tips blog post to give you a beginners idea on where you can start.
I is for Images. Visuals are greatly important, and if you hope to have your content shared on social media they are even more important! Choose beautiful images or create a quote image for yourself on a free site like Pic Monkey. Please be sure that you have the rights to any images that you are using, or if appropriate giving proper attribution. Image stealing is not cool.
S is for Social. Social, social, social. In case you haven’t noticed I am def. a fan of social media. There is no better way to send your blog out into the universe and help new readers discover your site. Be sure that you are sharing your posts across social media as well as encouraging others to do the same. Make it easy as pie for others to share your content by installing a social sharing plugin on each post and maybe even a super cool one that will allow readers to Pin right from your blog post or Tweet.
